It does 2 things.
1st, it gives your skin water to absorb, resulting is less dry skin. Water goes to water, so there can’t be too much water in the cream or it will actually absorb the water from your skin, instead of the other way around.
2nd, it creates a protective layer on your skin. It covers impurities and lessens irritation to let it heal.
