Dill contains a compound called carvone, which has been found to interfere with the normal estrous cycle in female animals. Carvone acts on the hypothalamus, which is the part of the brain responsible for controlling hormone levels. By disrupting the normal hormonal balance, carvone is able to suppress the normal estrous cycle.
