Nicotine is a molecule that gets used by your body, specifically your brain. Your brain wants to adjust to this new chemical, so it changes everything else to get back to “normal”. This means A) you’ll need more and more nicotine to feel the same effect, and B) stopping it is a massive, sudden change to your brain, which is by now expecting a ton of nicotine every day.
Nicotine is HIGHLY addictive; physical dependence can happen within *days* of use. That’s not even the psychological dependence you can grow for the effects of nicotine, I’m talking about your brain not being able to function without it. It’s no joke. Everyone thinks they can quit until they do, and the withdrawal hits.
Oh, plus cigarette manufacturers put in other chemicals on top of nicotine to make them more addictive. Presumably vape manufacturers are doing the same or trying to.
