Cyanoacrylate more commonly known as superglue is a type of resin that reacts with water
When you put super glue on something it starts to react with the moisture in the air. This causes the chemical molecules (monomers) to form long chains (polymer) which quickly hardens to a tough plastic likely consistency.
This is also in part why superglue bonds to you skin so fast. For one your skin has a lot of moisture, and two your skin has a lot of surface area due to the natural folds which helps super glue bond.
