I was wondering how the Indian election system works as India will have its prime minister election this year (2024)

It works much like the British election system. The country is divided into 500-some constituencies, each of which elects one member to the Lok Sabha. Whichever person can obtain the support of more than half of those elected members becomes Prime Minister.
