No one knows yet, you’re essentially part of the human trial to find out the answer to your question. It’s PROBABLY quite bad for you to do this at all, and PROBABLY worse when you’re sucking down charred god-knows-what.

When your lungs melt in a decade or two, we’ll have a better idea of just how bad though.

The excess heat chars whatever’s in the cart, making smoke. Smoke of any kind it’s carcinogenic so you might as well be smoking a cigarette as any advantage to vaping is gone

However vaping itself has been linked to popcorn lung, pneumonia, and decreased lung capacity. The best option is to quit entirely

Vaping and smoking carry different types of risks but are both not good for your health.

I want to reiterate this because many people don’t realize but VAPING IS JUST AS BAD AS SMOKING ITS JUST IN A DIFFERENT WAY.

When you use a filter to clean your air, eventually the buildup of “dirty” gets so high that it begins making the air dirtier than when it went thru the filter. Similarly, when you’ve accumulated so much residue onto your coils, it begins to burn the residual gunk. That gunk “smoke”now joins the vape cloud Into your lungs. The gunk smoke is NOT the same as your juice as it has been transformed into something else when vaped. Kinda like ash in a fire. Eventually the ash burns and that is different than say wood

It’s bad.

The purpose of the coil is to heat up the liquid BELOW its decomposition temperature, but just enough that it evaporates and mixes with air, thus creating the “steam” that you inhale. This evaporation instead of burning is why vaping is safer than smoking.

The fact that your coil turns black means that tar residue has begun to show up, which means that the liquid and the cotton material around the coil have begun to decompose from the heat. This creates all sorts of fun carcinogenic substances such as formaldehyde, benzene and acrolein, which are responsible for the burnt taste, and which will wreck your health long term. And by the way, if you keep using the same coil, all that residue will continue to decompose and release more of those chemicals.

Change your coil when it tastes burnt.
