There’s been a study on mice that seems to show a link between damage to nasal tissue and opening up a pathway for bacteria to get to the brain.
The Bacteria infections and resulting damage have similar symptoms to dementia.
The theory is that when the thin tissue in the sinuses is damaged, Bacteria could in theory cross the olfactory nerve into the brain.
But there’s been no studies in humans about this yet, and most studies like this end up being nothing more than clickbait.
