Plants respirate oxygen but how much does this actually produce? Does having one or two potted houseplants in a small apartment noticeably increase the oxygen concentration in the air?

“A medium-sized plant produces around 5 milliliters of oxygen per hour” and keep in mind that it produces very little if any at night

NASA estimates that you would need roughly 700 houseplants to produce enough oxygen for 1 person on a space craft.

Much of the Oxygen on Earth is actually produced by Algae in the oceans, but land base plants are also a big contributor. Estimates range from 50-85% of Earths Oxygen is produced in the oceans.
