eli5 : how/why does hydrogen peroxide react with blood and fizz?

People have answered the question but I also wanted to add that you really shouldn’t use hydrogen peroxide as a wound disinfectant. Yes, it has antibacterial properties, but it also damages your own tissues which can make the wound take longer to heal. Some warm water with a little soap is good enough to clean out a wound.
