So thousands of flocks are being culled in factory farms, the flu is spreading to wild birds, they’re dying and spreading it to smaller farms and local flocks all over the country. (?)
How is this going to resolve? Survival of the fittest? A massive cull to slow the virus? Mass inoculation?
If I get some backyard chickens, is it inevitable that they will they get it from a random hawk or sparrow?

Essentially, massive culling wherever the birds are infected with bird flu, hoping to slow down or stop the spread of the flu virus in commercial birds. Some things that tend to happen here in Belgium when bird flu is around, may include anyone having birds in the area being forced to keep them inside, or it being illegal to visit chicken farms in stricken areas.
