[ELI5] If cell phones don’t interfere with each other, why can’t airplanes?

Mobile phones don’t interfere with aeroplanes.
Initially when mobile phones became a thing there were concerns but there are no issues with interference, especially now.
I mean between an airplane and a cell phone.
When phones were first becoming mobile it was an issue, but now everything is insulated much better, and phones are not an issue at all. Keeping airplane mode on phones is useful because
A. Traveling at a high speed and trying to get a concrete signal messes with the phone itself, it will burn through the battery.
B. Before wifi use on a plane was popular, it was probably a good way to keep people quiet and not having a bunch of people trying to talk on the phone before takeoff or something lmao.
