eli5, If I shut all doors of a usual room in a house, how much oxygen enters and leaves the room?

I just want to know if at all we suffocate unknowingly if there is no proper ventilation of rooms. Will the oxygen be restored from the tiny gaps of doors and windows?

Yes lots of air comes in through cracks. The official word for it “infiltration” and modern HVAC systems actually account for it.

But even a perfectly sealed room you wouldn’t suffocate. The amount of oxygen you need is actually quite small. A quick back of the envelope calculation says a small flat has enough oxygen for 14 days of breathing. Though without fresh air the air quality and humidity would degrade

Unless you live in an airtight chamber, the numerous holes, crevices, gaps etc around a typical house means the oxygen content would functionally not drop for a long long time. What **would** become dangerous is the buildup of carbon dioxide.
