I don’t even know.

Water can have all 3 states of matter. Elemental oxygen and hydrogen can have all 3 states as well.

Oxygen and Hydrogen are elements. A gas is a state of matter. The state of matter can be changed by transferal of energy. Like when you heat or cool a given element. For example, this means that oxygen can also be in a liquid or solid state.

Oxygen isn’t a gas, its an element.

Hydro isn’t a gas, its an element.

Elements have “states” most common are gas, liquid and solid. These states are commonly triggered by temperature. E.G: Oxygen is a gas at most common temperatures found on earth, however is you make it cold enough it becomes a liquid, if you make it even cold it becomes a solid.

H2O aka water is commonly a liquid at any temp above 0c and below 100c

Because of how they interact.

Hydrogen gas (H2) doesn’t interact with itself much. Oxygen gas (O2) also doesn’t have many self-interactions.

However, water (H2O) does. Because of how the atoms line up (specifically, that they don’t – the hydrogen atoms are at an angle to each other relative the oxygen atom); water is “polar” – it’s like a small magnet. Because of this, it connects to itself. This connection is strong enough to raise the melting and boiling temperature of water far above the same temperatures for hydrogen and oxygen.

More broadly, the melting/freezing and boiling/condensation temperature of anything is based on how strong the broader connections are. Things that turn to gas at low temperatures don’t have strong connections between molecules; while things that stay solid at high temperatures are that way because they have much stronger connections.

Well, any of them can be solid liquid or gas. Water is liquid at room temperature because (way oversimplified) of the strong attraction between the oxygen in one atom and the hydrogen in the next atom over.

Water isn’t just hydrogen and oxygen sitting together in a container.
It actually is something very different. It consistents of those elements but they actually formed something new.

Just like you are something else than just the sum of your mothers egg, a sperm of your father, all the food you ate minus the shits you’ve taken.
