eli5 In a dry sauna, is it better to occasionally wipe off all the sweat or leave it?

By “better” I mean better for capturing the advertised benefits of being in a sauna

Not sure exactly which supposed benefits you have in mind, but I don’t think wiping off your sweat or not will have any real impact.

Theoretically you should get warmer faster if you wipe off your sweat, since the body cools down by using our body heat to evaporate the sweat droplets. So if you wipe off the sweat, the body’s cooling system will be less efficient and you should get warmer faster.

In practice, this will probably have a negligible effect however, since the impact will not be that great.

So, unless a supposed benefit is directly tied to the amount of sweat on your skin or how fast your internal body temperature will rise, then I have a hard time imagining wiping off your sweat would have any noticeable effect.
