Eli5: Is high blood pressure related to weight?

My[21M}] whole life I’ve been told to reduce weight because obesity causes high blood pressure{, along with other many things(strokes, heart diseases, etc)}. Today I was surprised to know when I actually had low BP(they said it was 100/60) when I went to donate blood. Is it because I had lost some weight few months ago(I am still fat though)? Like around 10kg(22 pound). Or maybe because I have been sedentary for quite some time now(like almost a month).

High blood pressure is not directly related to weight, but obesity is a risk factor for developing high blood pressure.

I would see a doctor if I were you, 100/60 is pretty low. Hypotension isn’t good for you either

So a couple factors to go with this: being overweight can cause high blood pressure, most blood pressure monitors are laughably inaccurate, and after donating blood your blood pressure will always be low because you have a lower blood volume since a bunch was just removed from your body

Insulin resistance and/or metabolic disease is a risk factor for both obesity and high blood pressure.
