ELI5, is scientonomy or science of science legitimate?

Why would they name it near scientology? Or make a one word name, instead of science of science?

Is it different than history and methods of science?

Seems pretty illegitimate to me.

The description on their website is pretty meandering and comes across as something unnecessarily wordy to me.

From what I can make out they seem to be saying they study how science has changed over the years, or how the methods and biases have changed, stuff like this normally sets alarm bells ringing for me, because it invokes arguments that certain types like to bring up.

‘Well science is always changing, how can we trust it?’

Even if its legitimate, its a pretty dry and boring subject compared to actual science.

Doesn’t the international science community ( at least the specific disciples themselves) examine best practices in regards to ethics and methodology all the time?
