Eli5 LSD, MDMA and SSRI’s

I’ve read that LSD and MDMA are very different in how they increase Serotonin levels in the brain… but how different SSRIs are to the first two? ….neurologically speaking?… and if SSRI’s increase Serotonin Levels why aren’t folks tripping their asses off when they take them?

LSD doesn’t necessarily increase serotonin in the brain, but it acts on parts of the serotonin system itself, preferring some parts more than others. MDMA increases serotonin, dopamine and norepinephine available in the brain by making neurons release lots more of it. SSRIs increase serotonin levels available in the brain, but this over time makes the serotonin system become less sensitive. This fact in part contributes to the anti-depressant effects and the initial delay of effects. There are a dozen or so kinds of serotonin receptors in the body, with psychedelic effects generally being considered mostly from activation of 5HT_2a
