ELi5: Nutrition suggests different people need different daily vitamins. Is there a baseline to which ones the average person needs. Which ones should the average person get and why?

The daily intake is what matters. Vitamin/minerals intake changes with age, race, gender and your environment. For example, black people need to intake more vitamin D through their diet, because pigmentation affects the production of it. Suplements aren’t needed for most people. you can get most, if not all the micronutrients from your diet.
