After the alcohol gets low enough wouldn’t the snake be exposed and start decomposing in the bottle?

I knew a guy that had one from Japan. It was a whiskey mason jar. He’d ladel a little bit out and then the next day after the party refill it.
I think the idea is you’re not supposed to expose the snake to the air, you constantly add more alcohol to keep it submerged.
