Eli5: Sorry if this may sound a bit rude, but why does a mans testicles hurt so much more than any other part of the body?

1. Production of sperm needs a temp lower than rest of body temp – this means testicles need to be outside the human body and need to hang loose in warm weather and be drawn closer to abdomen in cold weather
2. Lots of nerve endings – to enhance arousal and sexual satisfaction leading to more reproduction
3. Pain referral – unprotected and yet important – ergo pain must be severe to encourage the owner to be careful at all times to avoid injury – this goes to the point where injury to the groin can be sensed across back, kidneys, abdomen and other shared nervous pathways
