eli5: swallowing a chicken nugget

in theory, if the full nugget form isn’t stuck in my throat, isn’t a chicken nugget pre-chewed because it’s all blitzed up? If I cut it into swallowable pieces, would my body know the difference between a swallowed vs chewed nugget?

Kind of

It’s blitzed but it’s still compacted. Chewing would break it up a bit more and adds some moisture via your saliva. Chewing also stimulates your stomach (essentially it signals for it to get ready to accept food shortly)

Chewing increases the amount of surface area on the food – and more surface area means more area that digestion can happen

A chicken nugget would be easier to digest than swallowing something else whole like a chunk of steak but chewing will still assist the process
