An ox is a castrated bull.

If done early they will actually taste different than a bull.

And they behave differently, wich is way ox-carriages are a thing, but bull-carriages aren’t.

An ox can be female as well but are usually steers. The difference is that the cows selected to be oxen have been trained to pull with a yoke and listen to commands. The specific breed of cattle may be different but they’re still cows.
