Eli5 what are moles on our skin and how do they stay?

What i mean is, if thousands of skin cells die and replace eachother every day, wouldn’t moles disappear at some point? does our body keep producing the dark spot or are they an exception when it comes to our skin replacing itself

Moles are places on your skin where the cells produce too much melanin (pigmentation for darker skin) so even when your cells die and reproduce they still produce too much melanin due to being copies of the cell that already produced too much melanin
