Neo pronouns are replacements for he/she, him/her, etc. that attempt to encompass the less binary interpretation of gender we are developing.

While the specific pronouns are still very much in flux, their usage is simple – you just substitute the neo pronoun for the historic pronoun. So, for example, if someone wanted you to use the non-gendered pronoun “xi” to describe them, you would say “Xi went to the store” rather than “(S)he went to the store.”

They’re just pronouns, just like “he” and “she” and “her” and “they”, except that they’re relatively new inventions (hence “neo”, meaning new) You use them the exact same way you’d use traditional pronouns.

If someone’s pronouns are “he” and “him”, you say “he went to the shops” and “they gave him a cake”

If their pronouns are “ze” and “zir”, you say “ze went to the shops”, and “they gave zir a cake”

Just a heads up : op asked a grammatical question. Not a political one. It is not relevant if you think these words are nonsense, or if you think that by using them you legitimize a deprived phenomenon.
