Fat doesn’t, directly, build up in the heart specifically.
But high levels of certain fats and other chemicals in your bloodstream causes them to deposit on the inside of your blood vessels, kind of like a coating on the inside of a pipe. And as that coating gets thicker, it restricts the movement of blood. That can cause clots to form or allow chunks of that coating to break off and block vessels, and it’s those blockages – usually in the blood vessels that supply the heart with oxygen – that are why obesity is related to heart attacks.

Think of it like street parking for cars, the cars or fat is parked where it can be used and where there is space so the stomach has plenty of space, but around organs like the heart etc. the fat potentially can be used later by the organ when needed for energy to operate the organ. Once the standard parking areas fill up the other areas will start to be used, but eventually the number of parked cars may mean that traffic has to flow very carefully and slowly to avoid hiting the parked vehicles.
