Birds make nests so they can lay eggs. They don’t typically live in nests if they’re not, you know, nesting.

Birds don’t *live* in a nest really, they’re built specifically to raise young that can’t fly yet.

When it’s not breeding season or they’re not nesting for whatever reason, songbirds will usually sleep in a tree or some other cover. A whole gaggle of sparrows like to use our giant bush as a bird condo.

Well, if you’re house gets destroyed during the day, what would you be doing that night??

Birds also have feet that are normally clenched, so it takes them no effort to grip a branch all night while roosting.

Birds often stay under my car (directly on the pavement, on axle area, in the bumper cover, on the tire under wheelwell). No nest. We have bird feeder that attracts them though.

Do birds sleep standing up?
I couldn’t be a bird!

They panic and eventually find a new place.

Source: a tree near my house was struck by lightning and destroyed. Birds were flipping shit all around the area after the storm ended. It was sad seeing them land on the stump and look around while yelling. One after another for hours.

I’m just imagining a flock of migrating birds stopping and each building a nest every night.

Sleepover? I mean these birds have some weird freaking magnetic sense. If nothing else they gonna navigate.

Nests are for eggs not sleeping. They sleep sitting on a branch.

This question is fucking adorable though.
