“eli5” What does (aHR= 1.71; 95% CI: 1.42-2.05) mean when it comes to percentage for risk?

is that ahr=1.71 a 1.71% increase of risk. The CI: 1.42-2.05 I guess is a 1.42%-2.05% range of increase of risk? Thank you

Without knowing the context it’s difficult being clear but HR (hazard ratio) of 1.71 means the thing you’re studying was 1.71 times (ie 171%, not 1.71%) _more_ likely to be observed in the population you were looking at compared to a control population.

95% CI (confidence interval) means the author is 95% confident the actual true answer to the question you were trying to answer is between 1.42 and 2.05.
