[eli5] What does “Assumption of costs” exactly mean, coming from a company that would dine in a restaurant?

“Kostenübernahme” in German, I kept hearing it and really want to know what it exactly means, as in, what would the company do with that information and what steps do they take after the bill?

I am not exactly sure about what you mean with “coming from a company that would dine in a resturant” but Kostenübernahme means that the company pays for the bill, either directly when someone at the table has a company card or someone pays and they get back the money from the company. In both cases you need a bill from the resturant (not just the receipt) that you have to give to your company.
