Eli5: What does ceteris paribus means?

I cannot, for the love of god, read “other things constant” and understand what it actually means.

It just means that when you’re analyzing the effect of making a change to something, you assume that thing is the only thing that changes. It’s often not a very good reflection of reality, but it’s much simpler.
