Eli5-What does VRR mean for Xbox Series X and PS5?

Should I turn this on if my TV gets 4k but it also doesn’t get 120hz? Will it make my games look worse cause I haven’t actually noticed any tearing or anything or even too much stuttering.

If your TV does not support VRR then no, don’t turn it on.

Variable Refresh Rate syncs up the TVs refresh rate with the however many frames per second the PS5 is generating. It makes the image appear smoother and stops things like screen tearing.

For example, if your PS5 is outputting 84 frames per second, the TV will match that and refresh itself 84 times per second.
