Eli5: What happens to power grids and electrical infrastructure during floods? whay about wiring in houses? Do they just need to all be replaced or something else?

sometimes, yes, but water doesn’t damage electronics just by touching. the damage during these events mostly comes from the wind and flash floods pushing things around. if no electricity is flowing, then most of the time, you can just dry it out and put it back into service.
