Eli5: what is a informal organization?

It is probably referring to a group of people who work together for some purpose, but have no written down rules, no legal incorporation, no bank account, no group owned assets, etc.
eg. In my area there’s a group of dog walkers who meet regularly to walk their dogs (all similar breed) together. They are an “organization” but there is nothing “formal” about any of it. Really they’re just a facebook group that meets IRL for their collective purpose.
