An oxymoron is a phrase that seems to contradict itself; its component parts are basically opposite.
Classic examples include “pretty ugly”, “jumbo shrimp”, and “seriously funny”.
It’s a term made word with opposite meanings… like jumbo shrimp, civil war, bittersweet, guest host.

Basically it is two words of opposite meanings used together, like bittersweet for example.
Funny thing is, oxymoron itself is an oxymoron. Oxy means “sharp” and moron means “dull” so it means sharpdull.
Christian Republicans you KNOW I’M RIGHT. Less controversially but no less obvious, “jumbo shrimp”. The enemies of fascists that are somehow strong af and incredibly weak at the same time.
It’s things that you wouldn’t think exist simultaneously because the qualities of one would not be found in the other.
