eli5: What is confusion?

I’ve notice that I get confused, it’s a strange state of mind – What is it and why does it happen?

I was gonna put an explanation here, but now that I’m thinking about confusion is a tricky one to explain. Like you can be confused about a subject, meaning you don’t understand it or the concept of something. You can be confused about what day it is. You could be confused with sexual orientation… Bottom line is there is a lot of confusion every where.
