Day trading is the activity of buying and selling stock on a really short term, like within a day. The price of a stock fluctuates throughout the day so if you can get in and out at the right times, you can make money. And of course you can lose money too.
As opposed to day trading is medium and long term where you’re weeks to months and years between buying and selling
