Is freebase cocaine essentially just cocaine that is smoked or is there a process that goes into making it freebase? And how does it differ from crack cocaine?

Free base cocaine is crack cocaine. I’ve heard of crack addicts turning cocaine into crack using a kitchen stove and some basic ingredients. Cocaine on its own is smokable, but for some reason, it’s even better when smoked as crack. I’ve had both in a blunt before and I would try the crack again, but not the cocaine.
A lot of chemical compounds are unstable in their pure form and will degrade if not stored very carefully. Some compounds can be reacted with other compounds in such a way that the reaction product still possesses most of the desired attributes of the original but is easier to store.
Cocaine is usually distributed as cocaine hydrochloride, which is pure(freebase) cocaine reacted with hydrochloric acid.
The cocaine hydrochloride is more stable than the freebase and can be more easily transported that way but it will burn before boiling, meaning it can’t be smoked.
Cocaine hydrochloride that has been inexpensively converted back to freebase cocaine is called crack cocaine. This is desirable as smoking gives a stronger buzz than snorting.
