Crack cocaine is (generally) smoked and thus hits the brain within about 20-30 seconds and doesn’t last very long. It’s by far the most addictive of ways to consume coke.
Powder cocaine is typically snorted (it can also be smoked) and will produce a high within 3-5 minutes, lasting about half an hour. If you smoke it, however, the high will hit you much faster, but won’t be as intense as with crack.
The high produced, while similar in effects (your brain works faster, you have a heightened sense of awareness and self-confidence and you feel super ‘awake’), is different in that a crack high is much more intense , but ephemeral, requiring frequent further doses, whereas the powder coke high, assuming you’re snorting actual coke and it’s not mixed with speed, for instance, is much more mellow and manageable.
This is why snorting is the preferred method of consumption for most people – i.e. it can be used in plain sight in normal circumstances, at work, etc. Crack cocaine users tend to be far more ‘excited’ and easily detectable in society.
The best way I’ve ever seen a crack high described is in the song [I’m on Crack](https://youtu.be/0GLoHifu6aM?si=JkXMBXSKvEU7C_BX) by The Left Rights.
The world get a much brighter contrast, sounds are sharper, everything seems to spin while standing still. I was tricked into smoking it (“this is just some hard packed coke, man”) and it’s honestly one of the craziest highs I’ve ever been on. Different than smoking coke on a bowl or anything I did before or since
Coke, on the other hand, is more of an elevated mind high. Not too much as far as enhanced visuals or sounds, but more of a mental stimulation
You are missing the 3rd part, cocaethylene. Most people that do coke really experience cocaethylene, which has far different effects from cocaine (salt or free based). Cocaethylene is a triple reuptake inhibitors that is made by the liver when it metabolizes cocaine the the presents of alcohol. It’s worth a good google, it’s also vastly more lethal than coke.
