Eli5 What is the mechanism the makes females have multiple orgasms?

Ok science is complicated, but a part of what happens in males that there is a release of hormones like prolactin and Oxytocin that both temporarily reduce sexual interest, and cause relaxation. ( about 1 in a 1000 males don’t do this and are able to have multiple orgasms). This is called the refractory period.
Women have a different release of hormones that don’t cause this. But it’s really not well studied.
