Eli5: What is(and triggers) pathological demand avoidance, and why can one not “get over it.”

I’m almost positive my son has this. It’s not just “demand” avoidance but really any form of cooperation at all. For instance, no matter where or what or with whom he is going out to or with he will” NEVER” tell me names of any friend. It’s not that he is being sneaky but he will not give in to my so called demand of knowing his friends. It has taken years for me to come to this conclusion after so many mind boggling answers to simple questions. When he was a toddler he wouldn’t do things he wanted to do just because I asked him. Don’t even get me started on the things he doesn’t want to do 🤪🤪🤪🤪
