Complement proteins, antibodies, phagocytic cells and other elements of the immune system don’t really care whether or not their target needs oxygen, they’ll be happy to tear it to pieces either way.
Though, if bacteria are in the blood, chances are *they’re killing you* as much or more than the other way around. Sepsis is a bad time.
