An almond sized part in the middle of our brain known as the Amygdala, like the Bloodborne boss, it is responsible for feelings, memories, and fear. So if you ever cry for no reason or do illogical and self destructive things because of your feelings, blame the brain almond.

The Dopaminergic pathway is responsible for the good feelings (I,e., rewards). For example, think of when you were In love. You felt really good every time you saw that person (reward)! Unfortunately, those rewards, and in turn that pathway can be activated by less than desirable behaviors… e.g., drugs, alcohol, sex… etc. So the good feelings can be associated with both positive (love) and negative behaviors.

Now here’s the kicker… some people are more prone to the Dopaminergic activity than others, and have a greater activation of dopamine activity. Think of it like this, you have sex, you orgasim, it feels great, 8/10 on the feel good spectrum. Another person, same scenario, but they are more dopamine sensitive, has a 12/10 orgasim. Thus a greater tendency to engage in that behavior (whether it be self destructive or not)
