Distance vision is easily, routinely fixed with LASIK surgery and can be done without any effect on reading. However, although surgery is possible for short sightedness, getting it ruins distance vision so; they offer this weird option where one eye is for distance and the other for close up.
What is it about short sightedness that makes it so much harder to correct? Is it part of a grand cabal with reading glass manufacturers?!

Lazer eye surgery corrects vision by shaving and reshaping the cornea. Short sightedness on the other hand, is caused by a less flexible and elastic lens of your eye. Unfortunately there is currently no known way to reverse this effect. It is also part of the natural aging process so everyone’s eye lenses become less flexible, just at varying rates.
When they do short sightedness surgeries they’re still reshaping the cornea but since the real issue is with the lens and not the cornea they can only do so much to correct for the short sightedness. Also it will mess up your ability to properly focus on distant objects.
Kinda like a camera with an open aperture your eye won’t be able to focus on all distances without both a healthy lens and cornea.

I was think about getting eye surgery because I am near sighted. But I am now 46 and farsighted has already started. It was recommended not to get surgery or at least not now. Because the surgery would fix the my near sightness which is helping with far sightness. But fixing ine would mean worsening the other.
