Stereotype: She’s British, so she prefers tea over coffee.
Culture: Asian-American families tend to place a high emphasis on good grades in school, especially in subjects like Math.
Stereotype: He’s Asian-American, so he’s a math nerd.
A stereotype is when you assume something is true about an individual person based on something like their physical appearance, their ancestry, etc. – it isn’t necessary something negative. The problem is assuming that just because it’s true of some people in that group, that it must be true of this individual person.
