ELi5: When modern devices say they support GPS, QZSS, BEIDOU, GALILEO, and GLONASS, do they actively search all the satellites or lock to a specific constellation system?

Does having all these additional satellites make our location more precise? Or it’s up to dual-frequency?

it depends on the specific device. most modern receivers can use 2-3 systems simultaneously, but not more. especially older ones will choose a single constellation that is ideal for the region (different systems are ideal in different locations)
