If I fall asleep while my phone is plugged into the mobile power bank, the phone will be at 100% battery in the morning but the power bank will be empty.
If I unplug the phone as soon as it reaches 100% the power bank will have enough battery left for 3 more charges.

If you don’t mind a shocking answer (yes, I’m that guy), the electricity from your power bank is actually running away to join the circus! That’s right, your power bank is secretly training to become a high-wire acrobat, and it needs all the extra energy it can get to perfect its routine.
But in all seriousness, the reason your power bank doesn’t have as much energy left after charging your phone is due to something called “conversion loss.” When your power bank converts the electrical energy stored in its battery into the type of energy your phone can use, some of that energy is lost as heat. So even though your phone may be fully charged, some of the power from your power bank is still lost in the conversion process.
So, while it may not be as exciting as a circus act, that’s where the rest of the electricity is going – lost in translation, so to speak.
