ELI5- Why are Graphics cards getting so big & power hungry when other electronics are getting smaller and use less power?

In the past we put graphics cards in a PC now we put a PC in a space heater

Graphics cards stay the same size , it’s the computing power and the capability that needs way more cooling than older graphics cards. The boards on these cards are usually the same size, unless the amount of the VRAM increases, but the cooling units (fans, distributors etc.) always increase with the computing power.
