ELi5: Why are humans rather obsessed with having most of things set to an even number? It’s almost an internal crime to set the volume on the TV to 19 instead of 20, or set the brightness to 59 instead of 60.

Tree, bush, large rock and other groupings on lawns are usually in odd numbered groups because it looks better to us. If you look up “groups of odd numbered items” you will see it is used in both indoor and outdoor design.

Also, I think that may be a personal preference as I have never adjusted a number on equipment to be even or odd for that reason.
