eli5: why are most game consoles region locked?

Companies want to make as much money as posible from ther consoles, in a country were people make a lot of money they might be able to sell the console at a higher price.

In a por country they cant sell it for the same high price and sell it there for a lower one, they still make a profit but a smaller one.

If region lock did not exist then someone from the rich country could just order a cheaper console from the por country, console manufactures dont want that.
