The light coming from the top bounces off the knob downwards while the light coming from the bottom bounces off the knob upwards.

The bottom left line in my example, following its path, is now at the top. The whole “>” is upside down

Concave mirrors will create an inverted reflection. If you are outside of the focus point. Any light that comes into the mirror will bounce off and pass through the focal point, which is on the centerline if the mirror. Since it passes through that point, anything coming from above gets reflected below, and anything from below gets reflected above.
