ELi5 Why can flys see you coming a mile off when you try to swat them…but they can never seem to find their way back out of an open door?

They have built in mechanisms to fly away backwards when they see a shadow. Doors are a resent invention as far as their evolution has gone and they will probably never adapt to it.
